Jerusalem December 2022

Jerusalem was a great trip.  I was kind of surprised how much I loved it.  It was so spiritual and interesting seeing all of the religions together having a hard time existing together, but at the moment they were doing it.

These two are great friends.

Dome of the Rock was where Solomon's temple was originally built.

NO TOUCHING!  Was yelled if anyone got to close taking pictures.

Culturally insensitive art in the mall.

Where's the no touchy guy now?

The dead sea.

The salt was so cool to see.  It looks like frost but let me assure you it is not cold enough.

These two pretending to be schnitzels.

So much salt.

Ike hated it because it was so salty it hurt his skin.

It was so floaty.

Ein Gedi
Allegedly where David hung out in an oasis in the desert while the king was mad at him.  There were a bunch of goats and animals.  It was cool.

These two are awesome friends.

We love the Wildings and being able to go on this trip with them has been amazing.  We talked much about Christ and life experiences.  It has been wonderful.

This roof top is near where king David's tomb is.

This is a huge cemetery.

Walking where Christ walked was so impactful.  It has been wonderful to see where he walked, and reflect how much conflict still surrounds his life and example.

They think this is Gethsemane where they believe Christ preformed the atonement.

Mount of Olives

This is the rock they think Christ prayed on.

This tree would have been around when Christ was around.

BYU Jerusalem center.  We thought a lot about Sarah Johnson while we were here.  She did a study abroad and it was great to think of her having these amazing experiences too.

The Garden tomb.  This is where Mormons believe the tomb is.

This was the 12th station of the cross.  This was the last one station of our walking tour.

Ike was tired so Chloe was an awesome sister and gave him a ride.  Ike was leaning into the Via Dolorosa walk.

The west wall.  It was interesting to see the men and women separated, for everything.

I am so thankful for such a beautiful and touching trip.  It was an impactful experience I will not soon be forgetting.
