October 2017 Denmark.

 Copenhagen is cool.

It is an Awesome city that bikes a lot, is known for cool design, and good public art.

Hans Christian Anderson is from Denmark, so they have a statue of the little mermaid.  It is underwhelming, but a must.

There was so much good and sketchy public art we recreated most art that we could.  The comfort level during the recreations varied.

This is a cool wind mill.  The Kastellet is a compound with a mote.  It had a great dependable perimeter but instead of a boring ring they made it star shape.

Cool church.

The cuddle puddle.

Seriously cool.

We found good food.

Danish Museum of Art & Design

Everything was cool from street grates.

Cool weaving.  I know those words don't normally go together but they did here.

The furniture.  Drool.

 The toys.  More drool.

The displays of the chairs were amazing.  You pull the tabs in between the chairs and they tell you about them.

 More cool textiles.

Seriously it is origami clothes. It was all so good.

The horse back rider selfie pose was one of my favorites.

Statens Museum for Kunst.
Ok these sheep box guys were great.

I LOVED this metal sculpture.

Aubrey is a rockstar and watched our kids while we were in Copenhagen and even took them for walks and cool activities. Rock star.

We rented a car and went for an excursion out of the city.

We found cows and rain.

 lots of rain.

Mons Klint.  AKA super cool chalk cliffs that pictures don't do it justice.

You can see the chalk in the water because it was all crazy from the rain.

It was still super fun and no one complained so we were cool exploring.

And it was a beautiful drive.

Seriously beautiful.

Swan lake.
Or just swans on a lake that was super gorgeous.
Store vejlea is the real name, but who remembers that?

Troll hunting.  So they have six trolls that are made by volunteers and placed in the outlying areas of Copenhagen.  They are so fun to find.

And so detailed.  Check out the tail?

And the face.  It is made from wood scraps, artist designed, and volunteer built. Cool stuff.

I don't know what all the birds in the trees are, but I had black bird stuck in my head for a good portion of our walk after this.

The second troll in the park.  They are so fun.  We met a super cool kid going to school that took our picture with this big guy.

Aubrey is amazing, she did crafts with my kids.

They all loved it.

They played.

They played.

They played.

They had a great time.

Super great time.

So this tower has four dragons representing when Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.  The nortic nations intertwined.

 Nyhavn.

There is something about the old boats and old colorful houses.

Cool statue on a gorgeous day.

Old bank.

Church organ.

The city. From the View of the church.

We walked up
It was scary to look up because the clouds moved and made it feel like you were moving too.

Church of our Savior.  AKA the church with the cool walkway on the outside of the steeple that is super scary but crazy beautiful. It was a little freaky to walk up but you saw the views above.

Cool public art.

The church of our Lady.

I love the churches in Denmark because they are so clean and beautiful.  It is great to go into so many churches and feel the spirit no matter the denomination.  We all love our savior.

The Original Christis.

Most churches have a place to light candles.  This one is by far my favorite.  Look how clean and beautiful it looks.

The cheap castle.
Rosenborg Castle.

It felt old lady, mostly in a good way.

Old lady china.

Old lady horse pictures in odd jumping poses.

Or this guy that looks dead delivering that letter.

The cherubs.

The floor was cool.

Old lady crowns.

Some of the jewelry was good.

 Super klein park.

Mike has been reading about the cool public spaces they have in Denmark.

They are cool.

Kids having fun while we were away.

Ike and Brelee and either besties or enemies.  This week they were besties.

 Brelee kept calling Ike Honey.

 Modern Art Museum.

The cow on our walk to the troll near the modern art museum.

He was one cool cow.

The troll under the bridge.

we only found three but they were all great.  It was a fun layer in our trip to hun for these cool trolls.

The aquarium.
I have good aquarium juju.  The octopus was out and performing.

This little guy kissing the glass to say hi.

I am a sucker for a turtle.

We learned these sparkling little beauties are piranha.  They usually on feed on dead meat and are scavengers.  It was a super cool end to a super cool trip.  It was filled with fun, good conversations, and seeing a place we have both always wanted to go.  Schuyler's name is Danish it was fun to go and see a place that is connected and not connected to her.  It was rejuvenating trip for me.  It has been a long stretch with out Mike and it was fun to spend some quality time with him.
