Amsterdam - August 17-20 2015

Monday the 17:
Our flight to Amsterdam.  It was Beautiful, and we got first class so it felt even more beautiful.

Tuesday the 18th
Our scenic train ride from the airport to the middle of no where.  We saw windmills, wildlife, and cool buildings.

Our train ride back to the city.

 I love street art.

There was an exhibit with Miffy

 Duck Miffy

Quickly went to the Van Gogh museum they didn't let you take pictures but it was amazing to see art that you learn about in school, sitting there, on the wall.

The canal tour of Amsterdam where you can see seven bridges in a row.

My favorite miffy but we had to wait until later to see her because she was locked away for the night.

We had a yummy dinner that was kind of like a big meatloaf meat ball on top of potatoes and veggies.

Wednesday the 19th
Our friends on the way to get breakfast.

The canals are so peaceful in the morning when Lindsey and I are the only people out because we can't sleep.

 My favorite museum.

 Wooden toy collection.

 modern furniture.

Then there was the art.  I am amazed what you can do with just positive and negative space.

Or how cool repetition can be.
Embroidered alphabet.

 Cool lines.

You can be walking through and think that reminds me of Andy Warhol...oh wait that is Andy Warhol.

We just missed the Matisse exhibit, but you can see just a little through the door way.

That looks like a Lichtenstein, oh wait it is.

It is awesome how cool lines are,

 or how cool shadow are.

It is amazing how cool lots and lots and lots of plastic bags filled with water can be.

Dots can be super compelling too.
Ropes and  poles.

We ate good food.  We had to try stroopwaffles.  They were good but super sweet.

Zaanse Schans.
The place of wooden shoes, cheese, and windmills.

The shoes were crazy,

 and intricate,

and inventive.

We saw a lot of wooden shoes.

We got to tour many windmills.

 Cheese!

 Inside the windmill.
Inside the windmill.

Lindsey enjoying haring

Me enjoying Lindsey enjoying haring.

We came back to our hostle and found a wall of toilet paper in the stairwell.  The stairwell was enormous to begin with...so that was fun.

 Amsterdam

Thursday the 20th
 Amsterdam in the morning.
We couldn't sleep because of the snoring wonder.

If you get up super early then you are the only person by the most famous sign in Amsterdam.

 Miffy all to myself.

 Tired.

 Crazy cat.

 Fresh squeezed oj

 Poffertjes

 and a pancake.

 Rembrandt house.

Rembrandt house.

 Katten Kabinet musum

 Cat art at it's finest.

Cat cabinet.  It is covered in fur and has ears.

 Lot of cats

Porcelain cat pinball.

I feel like this is the iconic old lady cat room. The crazy hand made looking pillow, the real cat, old lady furniture, and a mural with a possessed can in the background I think encompasses it all.

REEEER

Lindsey's other BFF in Amsterdam.  We found this little guy in a tree while walking.
